On August 11th Microsoft has announced it will end support for .NET8 & .NET9 on november 10th 2026. Microsoft Article
Yesterday I got an email from Autodesk explaining Revit 2027 already has .NET10 support but Revits 2026 & 2025 will need to be updated, and that Revits older than 2024 will not receive such update. Autodesk post
Does this have any potential consequences for Orkestra and its compatibility across Revit versions?
Currently in our organization we support automations via Orkestra on Revit versions from 2020 up to 2027 (We will end support for 2021 and older when Autodesk kills cloud model support for these versions in November 17th, following their new policy of only supporting the 5 latest versions).
THe way autodesk will handle this is they will still load .net8 plugins into .net10 environements , and this should be okay 99.9% of times . This will apply to Revit 2025.5 and Revit 2026.5 releases. So current versions of Orkestra will be okay to run there.
We did however take extra measures to ensure that there is as little room for issues as possible. This will be part of the Orkestra 2.4.x series , planned for release this very week .
