Issue With Rhino.Inside and Orkestra 1.9.3

Hi there! I’m looking to use Rhino.Inside and am having a hard time getting the plugin to load in Rhino 8 and every version of Revit between 2023 and 2025. I’m finding this error when looking to manually load the plugin - apparently, the net7 version of the OrkestraRGH file is trying to get loaded when I think I need to be pointing at the net8 or net48 version and, when trying to do that, I get the error "Unable to load OrkestraRGH.dll plug-in: initialization failed.

I was able to run everything just fine about a week ago so I’m not sure what changed on my end. Let me know if I’ll need a re-install of the Orkestra package in the event that the net8 version is missing but, when opening any other instance of Rhino 8 outside of the Rhino.Inside instance, I find that the plug-in is sourced to the net7 instance and that works just fine.

Since this error popped up, I’ve also found attempting to open Grasshopper crashes Rhino.Inside and Revit outright so I’ve been unable to check things on the Grasshopper end.

Let me know if I need to ask the Rhino.Inside version of Rhino 8 to install a different .dll file or if there’s something else going on or any other info I can provide!

Thanks in advance!

hi @jblanchard !

This were working with the exact same setup and then stopped working?
If so, has there been any rhino version update or any other change that could explain a change in behavior?

One thing to note is :

  • Orkestra will only work with Rhino 8 in net core (not in net framework compatibility mode)
  • If you want Orkestra to load for Rhino.inside in Revit 2024 or older, you’ll need to select Rhino 7 when you open revit.
  • if you want Orkestra to load for Rhino.inside in Revit 2025 or newer, you’ll need to select Rhino 8 when you open revit.

Ahhhh okay! Yep, that’s the issue - I was in Revit 2024 and hoping to use Rhino 8 - I’ll get the Rhino.Inside plugin for Revit 2025 and work in that from now on. Thank you for providing some clarity!

Sure thing @jblanchard !
Let us know how it goes :slightly_smiling_face:
