Hello. I have run into an issue that has cause many of my QuickAccesses to disappear and stop working.
After moving .dyn definitions to a different Hub for archiving purposes, and moving some .okpy definitions to a different workspace inside of the same Hub, many of the definitions which were previously added as QuickAccesses have disappeared from the ribbon. I also cannot add them back as they don’t show in the dropdown when selecting which definition to add (as if they were already added).
As an attempt to refresh the dropdown options I tried moving one same definition which disappeared form the QuickAccess into the workspace where it already is (move from the location to the same location) but this caused the definition to vanish from the workspace.
The only solution I found was to deleted the definition from the workspace and upload them again, then I could add them back to the QuickAccess, but I don’t want to have to do this for all the ones missing.
Is it possible to get them to appear again in the QuickAccess?
Now I realize that when moving .okpy definitions to a different workspace which is assigned to different Revit versions the Tab in the QuickAccess gets duplicated and the definitions get grouped in these duplicated tabs according what compatibility settings they have, instead of merging into the pre-existing tab and just pointing to a different location.
This gave me the impression that they had disappeared, but actually they just got moved to a duplicated QuickAccess Tab, this is also why I could not add them back, they were already added.
I did not expect the Tab to get duplicated, idk if that is intended, but at least I can just move them back and re-add them directly in the Ribbon builder menu.
Hey @FilipeFinco !
About the “duplicated” tabs: the ribbon you see is always filtered by Revit version. When you moved the definitions into a workspace that is set up for different Revit versions, they stayed in the same tab, but that tab now shows different content depending on which version you are looking at. So nothing was duplicated or lost, the tools were just hidden in the versions the new workspace does not cover. That is also why you could not re-add them: they were still assigned to the ribbon the whole time. I double checked your organization’s ribbon data on our side to be sure, and everything is intact, no duplicates anywhere.
For the future: if you want moved tools to show up again in a given Revit version, you just need to add that version to the new workspace’s compatibility settings, or move them back like you did. No need to delete and re-upload anything.
The definition vanishing when you moved it onto its own location is a real bug though ! and thank you for catching it. We never planned for that. The move treated the file as if it were overwriting another file with the same name, and that “other file” was the file itself (cause it’s looking for it in it’s own location
). We have fixed this server side, you shouldn’t be getting that anymore. Good news: files that disappeared this way are not actually gone, they are just hidden on our side. If any others vanished besides the one you already re-uploaded, tell me which ones and we will restore them for you.
I agree the version filtering deserves to be more visible in the ribbon builder, we will look at making that clearer.
I appreciate the detailed explanation Mostafa. Good to know you can recover files from your side. For now it won’t be needed as I had a back up for the one which vanished.
Thanks again for the support!
sure thing @FilipeFinco !!!
thank you for helping us improve!
