Definitions cannot be assigned to tabs and panels after deleting dropdown in Ribbon Builder

While working with the ribbon builder I deleted a dropdown that contained definitions. Now when I create a new dropdown I cannot pick those definitions again, as they don’t appear anymore as possible selections.

If I go to Overview view in QuickAccess on the web online app the definitions are still there, but when I assign them to a tab this selection won’t save. Clicking the refresh button gives an error “Could not refresh. Please try reloading the page”, reloading the page also does not save the selection.

In the local app if I display the QuickAccess by dropdowns I see lots of duplicated dropdowns with no way of removing them.

The only way I found to get things back in place is in the local app > QuickAccess > Display by Overview and manage Tabs, Panels & dropdowns from there.

Thanks for reporting this @FilipeFinco !

We’re going to look into why you cannot pick the definitions after their initial dropdown host got deleted.

Good that you figured out the way around this with the overview mode!

Just an update: I realized now deleting a small button dropdown in the Ribbon Builder also makes the definitions that were inside of it not visible in the overview tab. Basically making it impossible to add them back to the Ribbon. Trying to open the workspace where the definitions were in the local app with display by Workspace gets stuck on “Loading…”. So the quick access for the definitions cannot be configured.

yes this is correct. The overview is just a different view of the same settings. So if you remove the QuickAccess in the Ribbon builder it is normal for it to not be there in the overview mode.

now this is not normal. Could you please share the id of the workspace to helpdesk@orkestra.online ? Something must have gone wrong somewhere.

So the quick access for the definitions cannot be configured.

do you not see it in the ribbonbuilder either?

I have sent to the address the workspace ID.

The definitions that were under one of the dropdowns (the one I deleted) do not appear as possibilities to be added in the Ribbon Builder (as if they are already added) so the folder they are grouped under appear empty in the Ribbon Builder:

In the workspace the definitions are grouped under this 00 - Sellafield folder, but they do not appear in the Ribbon Builder.

The reason you don’t see these in the Ribbon builder is because all those definitions were set as QuickAccesses already. The ribbon builder only allows selection of definitions that are not quickaccesses in order to avoid duplicates.

We have looked into your data and that was one small dropdown that - for some reason - couldn’t find its host stack is if it had been deleted . We’re really unsure how this could have happened but we’ll stresstest the ribbon builder some more and will hopefully figure it out.

You will now be able to see the quickaccesses in the Workspace mode as well

I believe that the definitions that you wanted to re-add were already quickaccesses within this problematic dropdown, which is why they were not appearing in the ribbon builder.

You should now be able to get everything to load and work propperly.

If this ever happens again, it would be extremely helpful to know the exact last step you took before things went wrong. In the case the problematic dropdown (the one in the deleted stack) was the “00-Sellafield” one.

This should be resolved by now. Feel free to follow up if you ever experience this again!
